The Diskeles Society pursues the goal of contributing to the protection of the tangible and intangible culture of one of the richest cultural regions in the world by means of historical, as well as cultural-scientific and social-scientific research and regional surveys, and to bring this to the attention of a broader public. One of the society’s significant objectives is to strengthen consciousness of cultural heritage in society and to emphasise the value of cultural diversity. This can only succeed by means of the understanding of a common World Cultural Heritage without geographical boundaries and by means of international cooperation.

The first stage in the protection of cultural heritage consists in the dissemination of knowledge. For this reason, the Diskeles Society has set the goal of making older as well as future research accessible for all interested parties by means of multilingual distribution. This should also contribute to making the internationality and trans-nationality of scientific investment in the tangible and intangible cultural heritage in the Anatolian Mediterranean region more visible. It will also underscore the significance of cooperative work for a common goal.
